Yes and there's still plenty of work to do.....

Actually the work load has decreased since the main construction has finished so now it's more about setting up the systems and the usual reef aquarium tasks.

Next was to start on the tiling so I needed some volunteers...





And then of course time for a new sink



Next was to find a supplier for the steel support and get them in the car.....



Then paint them with a plastic based paint that is resistant to salt water



And then hope that they fit.....

It was time to design the sumps, from memory they are both 150cm long x 45cm wide and the upper sump is 50cm high and the lower sump is 65cm high.

Did you ever try to count the hours of work on all the project and the realization!?

I never kept any record of the hours but could easily be close to 1000hrs so far with planning and realisation as I was averaging around 20hrs p/week on the work although this has now reduced to around 10hrs p/week and sometimes less since the system is now running.

Whilst the concrete for the pillars was drying it was time to start on the electrical side of the Installation:

I also decided to Install a dedicated 16amp supply for the aquarium and each of the 15 outlets have it's own RCBO power breaker i.e. each piece of equipment is on it's own circuit so in case it has a problem it doesn't effect anything else:

And at some point you need glass for an aquarium right ?



The glass is 25mm laminated Optiwhite for the 4 main panels and each panel weighs around 125kgs. The base is double 15mm so the totals weight of the glass is around 500kgs.





After around 30 cartridges of silicone we have an aquarium.....



And once it was up and I then needed to wait some days for the silicone to cure and also fit the internal brace bars and steel frame, so I Installed the lighting frame.



The lighting frame is custom made from stainless steel and it allows me to slide each set of 4 lights around quite easily.
